Bill Dozer X

Bill Dozer X
Short Story

“Damn it Bill, move!”

“What do you think I’m doing?!”

Bullets fly, and the undead roar as two courageous, but at odds fighters escape a condemned building. Linda the tiny Japanese woman and Bill the muscle bound American are the last humans in a world plagued by zombies.

“Well it looks like your shooting zombies instead of running.” Linda retorts. “Also, duck!”

On cue, Bill ducks as Linda bombards a swarm of zombies with her modified AK47 Tactical. Sparks erupt from their bodies as does their corrupted blood.

“Idiot.“ Linda growls. “I won’t tell you again, move. This place is about to explode.”

“Someone’s being her usual bitchy self I see.” Bill whispers as he follows his older partner through the facility.

“I heard that!” Barks Linda.

The two run through a narrow corridor, leading to a large dome shaped aircraft hanger. Damaged, and unkempt aircrafts ranging from small to large litter the area, as do the undead. The charcoal skinned, bulky undead drones march toward Linda and Bill. The two are trapped between a wall of Herculean sized zombies and a narrow corridor which, is accompanied by bone chilling wailing.

“Super Strength Types. God damn it all to Hell!” Linda curses. “X is out of range, we won’t be able to Dozer-Flash.”

“It could be worse.” Quips Bill

“There!” Linda says ignoring Bill.

To the left of the zombie horde is a small opening. The opening looks like it was made with a tiny explosion.

“Their left side is light compared to their right.” Says Linda. “I’ll cut them down with my Saber Laser while you cover me, understand?”

“Ya gotcha.” Replies Bill.

The two dash toward the opening, Linda tosses her weapon at Bill, who proceeds to fire upon the undead near them. The bullets do no harm to the excessively buff zombies. Even head shots do not finish them. A blade sits on Linda’s back. Gripping the hilt she pulls the blade forward revealing a laser like blade.

Brroooom, Sounds the blade as Linda slashes horizontally, cutting off a zombie’s head. Its oil colored blood and sparks fly about as its head slams into its nearby brethren. Twirling Linda strikes diagonally slicing another zombie in half, sending sparks and blood everywhere. One of the monsters creeps up on her, but is shot in the head by Bill. The zombie hesitates, allowing Linda to chop its head off.

The two reach the opening, when the dusty windows high above in the hanger shatter. Linda and Bill look up at the windows to see a swarm of Flying Type zombies soaring into the area each armed with machine guns.

“Ok, it can get worse.” Cracks Bill. “Well it was nice knowing you Linda.”

“Shut up you idiot!”

Linda dashes for Bill. Clutching his hand tightly, the brunette beauty drags the red haired dolt through the opening. The flying zombies soar freely like Superman past their sluggish brethren as they open fire upon the two.

“This would be a good time to call X, Bill!” Yells Linda.

“I’m calling, I’m calling!”
Pressing a red squared button on a oval shaped device strapped to his right ear, a clear red glass shoots forth. The glass hangs in front of Bill’s right eye, text; reading “Shall I launch?” appears on the transparent lens.
“Yes launch. And hurry!”

As the two run through the dense forest, bullets ricochet off trees behind them. The sea surrounding the isolated island turns and swirls, violently. The island itself begins to shake as the sea begins to rise. The flying zombies stop their chase and hover in the air. Zombies unable to fly try to maintain their balance as they look toward the ocean.

Long gold fins emerge from the ocean, rising higher and higher, splitting the water. With a thunderous roar a giant Cybernetic bird like creature locks its blood red eyes upon the island. The metal creature looks like a hybrid between a Pterodactyl and Phoenix. The gold monster towers over the island as it marches for the shoreline.

Its height is an impressive one hundred and fifty meters, not including the wingspan. Spreading its beautiful gold and red trim wings, the sun’s rays dance upon the rainbow of colors within the Cyborg’s flight feathers. Reaching the shore, the hybrid of science and biology roars into blue sky. Feeling fear for the first time since their death, the island’s undead citizens flee in droves.

“Hear that? Sounds like our favorite giant turkey is here!” Linda exclaims. “Tell ol’ Rodan there to trash this island.”

“Would you like him to shine your shoes while he stomps on zombies?” Bill jests. “X burn this place to the ground buddy.”

“I wonder if he could burn you down.” Hisses Linda.

Bill relays the message to the giant Cyborg, who responds with a mighty howl. The sun’s intense rays shine off the giant’s golden wings. X then crosses its wings and rears its head back. Opening its wings and whipping its head forward, a energy beam shoots forth from the crescent like helmet atop X’s head.

Within seconds, the island’s forest area is engulfed in flames. The screams of the burning undead, both in the sky and on the ground fill the island. Bill and Linda run through the safe parts of the dense island forest as X roars in the background.

"Crap, crap, crap!" Yells Bill "Where did we leave the bikes?"

"Somewhere around here." Replies Linda.

The two stop running and examine their surroundings. An agonized howl sends chills up Linda and Bill's spines. The two turn to see a zombie engulfed in flames running at them. Bill pulls out two hand guns and blasts the zombie in the head and its right foot.

The zombie erupts in sparks as it slams into the ground.

Bill puts his guns away into his shoulder holster.

"I found the bikes!" Linda calls out. Bill turns around to see Linda brushing aside fallen leaves, revealing the blue and red dirt bikes.
"Man we hid these damn things well. I'll stand them up. Have X head this way."

"Roger Dodger." Bill presses the red communication button on his monocle, which contacts the giant. "X track our signal. Get us out of here."

The towering Cyborg roars into the sky, it then begins marching deeper into the forest. A swarm of brave zombies soar through the air toward X. Holding out their guns, the swarm fire upon the Cyborg Monster. The bullets bounce off X's body, undeterred the giant continues its march through the forest.
The flying zombies howl as some kamikaze into the giant, while the remaining swarm continue their futile bombardment. The island's facility erupts in flames, its detonation sequence has finally reached zero. The roar of Bill and Linda's bike intensifies as the two soar through the air. The duo land on the moist ground as the bikes struggle through the muddy landscape.

The fire started by X grows as it continues to consumes more of the tiny isle. The nearby bushes and tall grass rattle as the undead speed toward the duo. These grey, stick thin speed demons put man made motor vehicles to shame.

"Super Speed Type Zombies." Linda sighs. "When will science learn?"

“Hey the facility finally exploded.” Replies Bill. “But its chaos pails in comparison to X’s power.”

“Focus you idiot!” Shouts Linda.

One of the zombies gets up beside Linda and grabs her left arm. The undead demon attempts to chomp down on her when a blue flash sends its head flying.

"Your not eating me you undead dirt bag!“ Linda gloats as she uses her Saber Laser to slash at another nearby zombie. “How long until X picks us up?"

"Seriously?" Retorts Bill as he uses his free hand to shoot down two zombies. "Do you not see the giant gold bird before us?"

X's massive foot crushes the dying forest not to far from the duo.

"Kinda hard to focus when your Star Warsing your way through zombies." Remarks Linda. “Lucky for us Speed and Flying Types aren’t as durable as Strength Types. Gun shots will kill them.”

"Seriously? Your joking right?" Bill shoots at another approaching zombie. "You’d have to be blind not to see the giant robot that towers over the Great Giza Pyramid-"

A high pitched howl catches the two off guard. The two look back to see a flying zombie right on Linda’s tail. Rushing into her, the undead demon knocks the petite Asian off her bike. The navy blue creature then lands on the now dirt road and spreads its peeling wings. Howling the sores covered monster creeps towards Linda.

“Linda!” Cries Bill as he sharply turns his bike.

A Speed Type lunges forth from between two trees and tackles Bill. The monster attempts to clamp down on the buff red head. The zombie’s disgusting saliva spills on Bill’s face as the creature edges closer and closer.

“Dozer-Flash!”

Bill is covered in a bright blue light, which causes the zombie to howl in pain. Sparks fly about as the zombie is pushed back, it crashes into the ground. As the blue light fades, Bill stands in a armored outfit. The outfit resembles SWAT gear, what with a blue armored vest, black gloves and boots.

His face is covered in a matching biker helmet. A white eagle is imprinted on top of the helmet. Flipping open the visor, Bill leers at the perplexed Flying Type zombie. Linda stands up, she brushes the dirt off herself. Her arms are covered in tiny cuts.

“God damn this day to Hell!” Roars Linda. “Dozer-Flash!”

Striking a pose Linda is covered in a intense red light. The light dispels revealing Linda in a red version of the SWAT like armor.

This folks is the amazing “Dozer-Flash” process. So what just happened? The Cyborg giant X is more then just an agent of destruction, it’s a base as well as a power source for Bill and Linda. As long as the two are within forty meters of X they can access these incredible suits.

Why do they have to be in range of X you ask? Well because in the moment that the two call out “Dozer-Flash,” X sends the two billions of micro-armor particles. These particles combine to create their suits and can only travel a short distance. Based on the word “Bulldozer” these power suits increase their strength, speed, and stamina to superhuman levels. But it only lasts for three minutes.

The Speed Type Zombie gets to its feet and with a howl, dashes for Bill. While Bill isn’t as fast the creature, his speed is still fast enough to barely dodge the zombie’s tackle. The creature crashes into the ground, Bill then pulls forth his twin hand guns. Connecting the left one to the back of the right gun, Bill forms a hand cannon.

The cannon glows a sky blue as Bill points the weapon at the undead menace.

“Dynamic Explosion!” Cries Bill.

Firing the cannon, a energy ball crackles and sparks as it zooms through the air. The skinny, grey zombie howls as the energy shot consumes it. Turning away from the monster, Bill strikes a pose as a large explosion ensues behind him. The Flying Type zombie hovers into the air, with a angry grunt, the creature rushes at Linda.

“My turn.” Linda hisses. Dynamic Saber Slash!”

Holding her Saber Laser out in front of her, Linda places her left hand on the bottom of the hilt. Pulling away from the hilt, a second beam of energy materializes. Twirling the double edged sword around, Linda aims the newly created beam at the flying terror. The energy beam shoots forth, catching the zombie off guard and stabbing it in the stomach.

The creature howls in pain as Linda lowers the zombie back toward the ground. Now on the ground, Linda runs towards the undead monster. The beam still inside the zombie, decreases in length as Linda approaches. Now in front of the monster, Linda pulls the beam out and twirls around.

Brroooom! The Saber Laser cuts horizontally through the zombie. Brroooom! Linda strikes again diagonally, then vertically from its groin to its head. Linda walks away as the zombie frails about and falls over.

A intense explosion occurs behind her as she stands triumphantly.

“Woohoo!” Bill declares as his suit disappears in a flash of blue light. “We won thanks to X’s power again. I’ll lube his gears in gratitude.”

X's massive shadow blocks out the sun as the duo turn to see the massive giant. Linda deactivates her transformation and then the two grab their bikes.

"X open the emergency hatch." Bill talks into his ear piece.

A human sized door opens on the giant's right foot. Turning off their bikes, the two haul them inside The opening closes behind them.

“Great job buddy!” Bill declares into his electronic monocle. “Thanks for sending us our suits. You saved our cans.”

"Well that was a colossal waste of time." Linda says as she walks her bike through the massive gold room. The giant Cyborg’s veins and muscles pulsate behind glass high above the duo. The two head towards a elevator that sits in the middle of the room.

"We wasted bullets, and found no food. All we did was trigger the factory's self destruct system. A total waste." Linda pouts as she enters the elevator. "God damn this zombie infested world!"

Bill leans his bike against the wall inside the elevator and eyes Linda's dirty bike, he then scans her scarred arms. He presses a button on the wall next to him. The door closes as the elevator begins moving up.

“I’m sorry I forgot to charge my Saber Laser.” Bill says. “Had I done so, we could’ve used less bullets-”

“Shut up.” Barks Linda. "Its not like your good with swords anyway. Using bullets was unavoidable. Anyway, did you order X to head back into the ocean?"

"Oh ya!" Bill blushes as he pats his head. "I forgot."

Outside, X stands still as the three zombie types, attracted by the explosions, try to chew and claw their way into the massive Cyborg. It's all for naught however.

"Idiot!" Linda barks again. "Get us out of here."

"Leave it to me." Bill sends his order to X

Linda scowls. Honestly, not charging your sword was just dumb. Linda thinks to herself. But God, I'm stuck with this fool. If only X would obey my voice.

At least he was useful. His transformation distracted the zombie long enough for me to regain consciousness.

With a thunderous roar X extends its giant golden wings. Each flap causes a hurricane to form and blow away the attacking undead. Four engine turbines on X’s lower back begin roaring. Two on its left, two on its right, the turbines power up propelling X skyward.

Turning back toward the sea, the giant Cyborg flaps its massive wings, soaring through the sky. Leaving the burning island behind, X soars through the sky with brilliant speed. Now with some distance between it and the inferno island, X dives into the expansive ocean. Diving deeper and deeper, the giant’s turbines begin to power down, its movement becoming slow.

The massive skyscraper of a Cyborg comes upon a even bigger underwater vessel. The submarine, naval ship hybrid stands still within the dark depths of the ocean. X’s eyes glow a light yellow prompting the underwater ship to brighten up with light. A bright green light shines between the vessel’s bow and bulbous bow, it begins to open.

Water rushes in sinking the boat. That is until numerous portside holes shoot the unwanted water out at intense speeds.

X enters the large ship, at which point the opening seals shut. The giant boat continues to pump the excessive water out.

As the water drains, X gently transitions from floating in water to crouching down. Inside, Bill and Linda exit the elevator, and enter a living quarters of sorts. The small squared area consists of a refrigerator, and a single rectangle counter top with a sink. Two couches with a small coffee table between them sits in the middle of the room.

A silver door with a sign that reads “Bathroom” stands in the corner. A grey and white Husky dog runs up to greet Bill, knocking him over.

“Hey girl!” Bill laughs as the dog licks his face. “No, Snowy don’t lick the nasty stuff off me. It tastes awful.”

Linda smiles at Snowy as the happy dog sits on Bill’s chest. Patting Snowy on the head, Linda walks over to a storage station. Placing her AK 47 on a shelf, and plugging her Saber Laser into a power cord; Linda then walks toward the bathroom. Snowy hops off Bill, he then gets up and heads to the storage station. Bill goes out of his way to make sure his Saber Laser is charging.

Linda starts a shower while Bill washes his hands in the sink. He then opens the tiny black fridge.

"Noodles in a cup again huh?" Bill sighs. "Well I guess we’re eating soup again Snowy.”

Snowy prances behind Bill while he toils away in the tiny kitchen area, Linda curses her fate as she showers.

"God damn it all to hell!" Linda cries as she rinses her hair. "What a waste. That facility was linked to the outbreak. How could their be nothing there?”

She gathers suds from the single thin soap bar and applies it to her body. Blood, and dirt run down the shower drain.

"No humans except me and that idiot should be alive. Yet, that whole place was ransacked by human hands-"

"Hey Linda!" Bill knocks on the door. "I’m warming us up some soup. Save some of that hot water for me, k."

"Ok!" Linda replies. "That idiot. Well at least he can be useful sometimes." She smiles as she splashes water on her war torn body.

The End.
